As you may be aware, the Cruise Lines have a policy in effect concerning a possible fuel supplement on cruises. Most of the Cruise Lines policy states that should the NYMEX oil price reach either $65 or $70 a barrel, a fuel supplement will be added to a cruise. This is on new and existing cruises. Right now oil is heading for $80 a barrel. The oil has been around $78-80 for quite a few days now. Intersetingly enough no news from the Cruise Lines to re-instate the supplement!!! Maybe they are realizing it is tough enough to fill the ships up during this economic crisis. By re-instating the supplement they may just be upsetting those valuable customers. I personally hope they never, ever re-instate the supplement....we will have to wait/see/hope. Right now there are still some last minute cruise deals eg. Carnival Inspiration 4 night cruise from Tampa from $279 per person plus government fees.
