Airline seat availability 2/22/2010 2:16:07 PM Link 0 comments | Add comment Customers keep asking why they have trouble getting the $99 special the airlines advertise.
Airlines have a lead-in rate to get people interested. They do not sell the whole plane at the same price (if they did they would go broke). Every airline limits the amount of seats at a certain price on every plane. Once these seats fill up they move to the next price level, then the next and so forth.
When you buy the ticket will also play a crutial role on the price. Tipically it is a good idea to book domestic flights between three to six months out and international tickets (especially at peak times such as Christmas) six to nine months in advance.
Why are the flights so full when the airlines are claiming they are having trouble making money? Since 9/11 airlines have cut back on the amount of flights between different destinations. They now try to make sure that almost every seat is filled in order to make the maximum money....problems happen when you have the storms of the past two weeks, if an airline cancels a flight due to weather it becomes very difficult to reprotect them on another flight; Last week we had customer wait more than 24hours for the next available flight..
At Curlew Travel we also do airline tickets. Keep in mind, we have access to all the major airlines and are experts at finding the right flights that suit your budget. By searching the net you may find a website that will only look at their preferred partner airlines. We don't have any preferrance. Feel free to contact us at Info@CurlewTravel.com |
